Tog Ratings

The tog rating of a duvet is a measure of thermal insulation, indicating how warm a duvet will keep you. Essentially, the higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet will be. Selecting the appropriate tog for each season, you can ensure the perfect night’s sleep all year round.

For Spring and Summer, a tog rating of 1 to 7 is ideal. Duvets in this range provide enough warmth to keep you cosy while still allowing for breathability, ensuring you remain comfortable during warmer evenings.

As the seasons change and Autumn arrives, a tog rating of 6 to 10.5 is recommended. This range offers a bit more warmth as temperatures begin to drop, providing the perfect balance between comfort and temperature regulation.

In the colder Winter months, opting for a duvet with a tog rating of 13.5 to 16.5 is essential to keep you warm and snug during chilly nights. These high tog ratings provide excellent insulation, ensuring that you stay warm and cosy.

If you're looking for versatility, a duvet with a tog rating of 10.5 is an excellent choice for year-round use. This middle-ground rating is suitable for all seasons.

Duvet Types

Once you've chosen the right size and tog rating for your duvet, it's time to select fabrics and fillings that suit your preferences. Consider fabric options: natural materials like cotton and linen offer breathability and softness, while synthetic fabrics provide durability and ease of maintenance. For fillings, natural options like duck or goose down are lightweight and luxurious, while synthetic fillings are hypoallergenic and budget-friendly.

Natural Duvets

Natural cotton casing with a natural feather filling can create perfect bedtime bliss.

Feather filled duvets create a lofty, plump feel that will keep you cosy without being too hot! The feather filling with a cotton outer will naturally regulate temperature to both your body and room ensuring a constant comfortable temperature through the night. Feathers will allow the duvet to be moulded around you and simply shaken back into shape in the morning.

Bedding Storage

If you frequently change your duvet with the seasons or keep extra ones on hand for guests, proper storage is essential to maintain their quality and longevity. We recommend storing your duvets in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture build-up, which can lead to mould and mildew.

For optimal protection, consider using our 100% cotton bedding bags. These specially designed bags offer a breathable environment for your duvets and will protect your bedding from dust and allergens while allowing them to remain fresh and clean.

The bags are also ideal for other bed linens, pillows and towels.
